DOT Farm Stand CSA Members

Posted 9/30/2019 2:01pm by Gregg Keckler.

Dear Folks,

I am sending this email as a heads up warning and also a petition to you.

Situation:

Every week at DOT I must drive the truck across a pedestrian walkway in order to get into the cobblestone courtyard where I back the truck up to the stand location.  Every week now since June that walkway has been getting narrower and narrower.  At first I considered it just another challenge to see how good of a driver I am, but in the last two week I began to think that I would not be able to get through at all.  I tried to flag a construction worker down on my way out in the afternoon to see what their plans are and their timetable would be, but I cannot get anyone to acknowledge me or speak to me about it.

Considering the continual changes on New Jersey Avenue, it would not surprise me if I cannot get into the farm stand location one of these weeks.

Warning:

Some week I may not be there at the DOT Farm Stand when you get there.

Petition:

Now that you know that possibility - would any of you folks be willing to change your location:

1. Tuesday, National Geographic Society in the Courtyard - 16th and M St NW - time: 7:30am - 2 pm

2. Thursday, Belle View Condos - Belle View Blvd, Alexandria, VA-  time: 2 pm - 7 pm

3. Saturday, St Luke's Episcopal Church, Alexandria, VA-  time: 8 - 1 pm

There is also a location on Thursday in Columbia, MD if anyone would be interested.

I realize that for some of you who either work at DOT or live right in the area that none of these options will work for you.  In the event that we cannot get there, we will certainly reimburse you for the weeks missed.

Realizing that we still have 7 weeks left of the CSA, I cannot imagine that I will be able to get through the narrow passageway all 7 of these weeks.  I will come as long as I am able to get through, but the end will be sudden.  I anticipate getting down there and discovering at 6:30am that I cannot get in and turning around and going back home.  Unfortunately, particularly in this situation, I have no cell phone so I will not be able to contact anyone until I am at home again.

Please let me know if you would like to make a change now, before the sudden death OR if you would like to wait it out and hope OR if you hate not knowing what to expect we can reimburse you for the rest of the CSA.

Please let me know that you have received this email.

Thanks so much for your time!  Louise
