Summer CSA session 1
June 5 - 9  week 1

How it works

We will be bringing your share to your delivery spot in a tomato box.  You can take the box and RETURN IT the NEXT WEEK or you can take the items out of the box and put them in your own bags and leave the box.

Since we will be creating the boxes either the day of the delivery or the night before, each location may have different items depending on what is available on that particular day and what is plentiful.

So your CSA box will be more of a SURPRISE! this year than in the past.

This will allow us to put items in the CSA boxes that may not be in quantity for the whole week, but are available daily.

Keeping your items fresh

Remember these products are straight from the field to you, so please store them in the refrigerator, especially right now with this warm, humid weather.

I have been able to keep lettuce mix and spinach for 5 days in the refrigerator without much trouble.  All fruit should be eaten or at least removed from the containers and sorted through as soon after you get them as possible.

We are trying to provide you with the freshest, cleanest possible products that we can offer.  Realize that sometimes things don't work out perfectly and sometimes we make mistakes.  Hopefully we learn from them and find ways to avoid making the same ones over and over.

CSA items of interest

We are excited about our new CSA and look forward to providing you with great items.

There are so many great recipes for foods now-a-days on the internet that anything you get should be able to be fixed to your liking.

Please ask us at the stands if you would like to find a new way to make something or you need some inspiration.  Usually these kinds of inquiries at the stands spark conversations with other customers who also have excellent ideas.  PLEASE do not hesitate to ask!

If you are dissatisfied or if things are not what you thought they should be, please let us know.  If we can, we will try to correct things; if  the CSA is just not what you need or want, please let us know and we will refund your money for the unused weeks.  We would rather have you happy and free, than to have your money!

Vacations

Our vacation policy is pretty simple.

If you will not be able to pick up your share on the day assigned, you must give a week's notice in order to cancel your share for that week.  If you cancel your share you may choose to get a double share the week following your holiday.  You may also choose to pick up your share at one of our other market locations during the week of your vacation.

Example 1:  You will be away on Tuesday, June 12.  You would let us know via email by Tuesday, June 5.  You choose to hold your share until the following week.  You will get a double share when you return on Tuesday, June 19.

Example 2:  You will be away on Tuesday, June 12.  You would let us know by Tuesday, June 5 that you will be picking up your share on Saturday, June 16 at a different location.

Another very easy option is to have a friend, relative, or officemate pick up your share for you.

If you have any questions please let us know.  Communication makes things work so much better.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone next week -

Tuesday - June 5 at NGS, DOT, and Gangplank Marina

Thursday - June 7 at Belle View Condos and East Columbia Library

Saturday - June 9 at St Luke's Episcopal Church, Fairfax Community Market, and Westminster Farmer's Market

Tuesday - June 19 - Woodlake Towers ( first week)

Dear Folks,

Next week is the first week of the CSA and it just dawned on me that the Farm Stand at Woodlake Towers does not begin until June 19.

Options for the first two weeks:

Option 1.

Pick up at another location for the first two weeks.

Tuesdays at NGS 7:30am - 1:30pm

Tuesdays at DOT 9:30am - 2:00pm

Thursdays at Belle View Condos in Alexandria - 3 - 7 pm

Saturdays at Fairfax Community Market - 8 - 1 pm

Saturdays at St Luke's in Alexandria - 8 - 1 pm

Option 2.

You can get a double share for any two weeks (beginning June 19) during the summer session - your choice of weeks.

Option 3.

We can add items to your share weekly to make up the difference for the two lost weeks- our choice of items.

Please let me know which you would like to do.  Sorry for the inconvenience.
