Spinach can be eaten raw in salads but it is even better for you if lightly stir fried.  Spinach will keep longer than salad greens and can be kept in the refrigerator for almost a week without it going bad.  Spinach is a leafy green that keeps coming back when cut until the weather gets to warm.  We also have perennial spinach (New Zealand); the leaves are a bit more durable and this variety usually begins to produce during the heat of the summer.

  • Stir fry with scallions, onions and either olive oil or butter
  • DO NOT oven cook the leaves or they will be slimy and you will never get children to eat them.

Our spinach is always pre-washed but you can always rinse it again
